Thera Herring

Thera G. Herring started her career with the Alabama Department of Human Resources in 1969. In 1974, with the start of Medicaid paying for nursing home services, she transferred to Medicaid. She retired from the Alabama Medicaid Agency in 1994. At Medicaid, she served as a District Office Manager in one of the original District Offices, Policy Analyst at the State Office, and was promoted to Director of Eligibility over all the District Offices. At the time of retirement, she wanted to continue to use her experience and knowledge to assist families and nursing homes. She formed a consulting company, Healthcare Compensation Solutions, that provides Medicaid eligibility guidance for nursing home residents and applicants. Through her consultant company, she hosts seminars to educate and create awareness of policy changes to nursing home administrators, social workers, nurses and billers. She is a member of the Silver Hair Legislature and a board member of the Alabama State Retirees Association.

Herring is based in Prattville and serves as an expert in Medicaid in Alabama.
